Miss Kayla Diane Brown, 19, of Varnville, SC, died Sunday evening, October 11th, 2009 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident that occurred in Fort Valley, Georgia.

 

Born March 16, 1990 in Columbus, GA, she was the daughter of Rev. Jim Brown of Varnville, SC and April Lynn Gombar Grantham of Waverly Hall, GA. She was a 2008 graduate of Wade Hampton High School in Varnville, SC and was presently attending Columbus Technical College in Columbus, GA. She was an Assistant Manager of Pier 1 Imports in Columbus, GA and was a former Sales Associate with the Gentle Shepherd Shoppe in Hampton. She was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Walterboro where she was a member of the Youth Drama Team. Kayla was an accomplished pianist and loved all facets of music. A huge Auburn University fan, she loved cheering her team to victory, but her greatest joy was spending time with her beloved family and friends.

Surviving besides her parents is her step-father, Greg Grantham of Columbus, GA; maternal grandparents: Andy Gombar of Abbeville, AL and Shirley McCann of Brundridge, AL; paternal great grandfather: Gilbert Thomas of Stewart, FL; one brother: Jimmy Brown and wife Courtney of Rincon, GA; two sisters: Misty B. Poston and husband Michael and two nephews Cameron and Carson of Estill, SC and Cassie Brown of Varnville; two step brothers: Brent Grantham and Frank Grantham, both of Columbus, GA and one step sister, Liz Grantham of Columbus, GA.
